On May 25, 2018, Lee James Davis, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died suddenly and unexpectedly at home. Lee was a man of deep faith and was involved in local and international ministries for many years. All who met Lee knew that he was compassionate, caring toward others, and held deeply-rooted convictions.
Lee was born on January 30, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and grew up in Savannah, Ga. He attended Armstrong State University in Savannah and soon after joined the Air National Guard, where he received Air Force flight training. Lee was a pilot with Delta Air Lines for 27 years, retiring in 2004. He viewed his work as a calling to serve others, caring foremost about passenger safety and customer service. Retirement did not last long, as he spent the next 7 years caring for his parents’ and in-laws’ health needs, and more recently tending to the health needs of his wife.
Lee is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Lucie McAlpine Davis; his sons, Chris (Rachael) Davis of Alexandria, Va., and Danny (Angela) Davis of Leesburg, Va.; his daughter, Abby (Daniel) Osborne, of China; and his brother, Lamar (Sarah) Davis, of Savannah, Ga. Lee was an incredible grandfather to seven.
Lee was predeceased by his twin brother, Danny, who died at 5 weeks old, and his parents, Lamar W. Davis, Sr., and Mary Lois Clark Davis.
A visitation (4-6 p.m.) and funeral service (6 p.m.) was held on Tuesday, May 29 , at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. A graveside interment will be held on Thursday, May 31, at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to ministries that Lee supported, including: A Better Way Ministries, 320 Dividend Dr, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269, or Groveton Baptist Church, 6511 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, Va. 22306.
