Three quarterfinal matches were played in Fayette over the weekend. After the first two rounds of the state playoffs were completed, the remaining eight teams in each classification were seeded to fill out the championship bracket. The top four seeds in AAAAA — Buford, McIntosh, Starr’s Mill and Whitewater — hosted their quarterfinals.
Riverwood, seeded fifth, came to town and upset Whitewater 3-2 in the best-of-five match. Buford swept Carrollton, winning three straight games.
The other local matches also had 3-0 results, as McIntosh downed Chamblee and Starr’s Mill defeated Harris County. McIntosh will host the semifinal due to being the higher seed.
