UPDATE – Sept. 9, 10:40 a.m.: The leak was repaired by 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Original story: A gas line rupture along McIntosh Trail near South Peachtree Parkway Thursday afternoon had firefighters requesting that residents on four nearby streets shelter in place until the leak is repaired.

Peachtree City Fire Rescue spokesman Ron Mundy said a 2-inch gas line was ruptured by a contractor at the intersection of McIntosh Trail and Creekstone Bend, just east of the parkway.

The rupture was reported just at 3:09 p.m., with dispatchers notified at 3:10 p.m. and firefighters arriving at 3:12 p.m., Mundy said

Mundy said the leak is expected to be repaired later in the afternoon, but until that time residents of Creekstone Bend and Warmstone Path, on the north side of McIntosh Trail, and

Wexford Way and Glendale Drive, on the south side of McIntosh Trail, were asked to shelter in place until the all-clear is given.

Mundy said police and firefighters are blocking the affected streets in the area and will provide information to motorists and affected residents.
