Ed English, director in the Public Affairs Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will be speaking to the Coweta Fayette Rotary Club Monday, April, 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Senoia Coffee and Café, 1 Main Street in Senoia. He will speak on the Federal Reserve’s history, discuss its role in promoting the economic well-being of U.S. citizens, and highlight current economic conditions the Fed examines, such as inflation and employment.
English has 23 years of experience with the organization. For more than a decade, he has managed crisis communications for the Fed’s Sixth District as well as a crisis information website for the entire Fed system. Additionally, he manages a group that conducts performance analytics for external and internal communication efforts, and he coordinates Public Affairs’ strategic planning.
English was a journalist for seven years before joining the Fed and has written a number of economic research articles that have appeared both online and in print. Topics have included the rising cost of higher education, the cost of crime, and Katrina – 10 years later. Earlier in his career, he coordinated the training curriculum when the Federal Reserve System consolidated its check operations from 12 platforms to one. Before that, English was one of the early pioneers at the Atlanta Fed in web communications. He and his family moved to Fayette County in the summer of 2001 and lived there until moving to Coweta County in the fall of 2015.
