A Brooks man is facing armed robbery by intimidation and burglary charges stemming from a March 30 incident in Peachtree City where he choked and robbed a resident.
Ryan D. Johnson, 32, was charged with armed robbery by intimidation, theft by taking, burglary and simple battery, according to Fayette County Jail records.
Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Mark Brown said Johnson arrived at a Stevens Entry residence at approximately 7 a.m. on March 30. Though apparently known to the resident, Johnson forced his way into the home. It was not a random act, Brown said.
Johnson choked the victim and threatened to kill him if he did not surrender his debit card, Brown said. Johnson left the residence with the victim’s debit card, cash and his cell phone.
The victim’s cell phone was tracked by police. Johnson was located by Coweta County Sheriff’s deputies at the scene of an accident in which he was involved approximately two hours after the robbery. Johnson was taken into custody at the scene, Brown said.
In other issues, a golf cart was stolen from a Balmoral Village residence on March 29. The green 1999 EZ-Go with a tan top and tan seats has a zombie stick figure decal on the windshield and carries city registration number 5000, said Brown.
A Waterford Bend residence was burglarized on March 30 and was reported at 1:52 a.m. Brown said a wallet was stolen, adding that the burglary was not believed to be a random act.
