The local chapter of PEO International recently installed new officers.
It is a philanthropic educational organization in which women celebrate the advancement of women – educating women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.
“PEO is passionate about its mission of promoting educational opportunities for women,” according to a spokesperson. “Our sisterhood proudly makes a difference in women’s lives.”
This is done through six philanthropies that include Cottey College, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women, and five programs that provide higher educational assistance: PEO Educational Loan Fund, PEO International Peace Scholarship Fund, PEO Program for Continuing Education, PEO Scholar Awards, and PEO STAR Scholarship. PEO is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.
