‘Suspicious’ man charged with smoking pot

A Peachtree City man was arrested on marijuana charges after he was reported by school staff as being suspicious.

Brandon Haire, 29, of Cobblestone Creek, was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and a city ordinance violation, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Mark Brown said officers on March 16 responded to a suspicious male sitting on a bench near Peachtree City Elementary School.

School personnel removed the children from the nearby playground and called 911, said Brown.

Brown said officers approached and the subject attempted to flee on-foot off campus on Riley Parkway.

“He was captured and found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was transported to Fayette County Jail,” said Brown.

Brown said there was no relationship between the suspect and the school.
