A weekend of activities is planned for historic Hopeful Church, which continues to serve the community nearly two centuries after its inception.

A volunteer day is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, from 8 a.m. until noon (weather permitting). Participants will work on spring cleaning in the cemetery and building some flower beds along the zig-zag wooden fence out of free mulch from the county recycling center. People in the community are welcome to show up anytime and help for whatever time they can spare.

Tim Mullis, Hopeful’s senior pastor, will lead a church service Sunday, March 20, at 11 a.m. The community is invited. A community lunch is planned for noon and everyone is welcome to bring a dish and share on the very large community table behind the church. Don’t forget lawn chairs.

Parking is available behind the church, on the shoulder along New Hope Road and Hwy. 92.

More recent photos of the church can be seen on its Facebook page.
