State Rep. Virgil Fludd (D-Tyrone) released the following statement regarding the shooting June 17 at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C.:
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the members of the church. I was born and raised in Charleston, and cannot fathom this recent act of violence. This church and its members have always been supportive of me, and I hope that the community will rally-around Emanuel AME to offer support during this time of loss and tragedy.”
Fludd represents the citizens of District 64, which includes portions of Fayette and Fulton counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2002, and currently serves on the Banks & Banking, Ethics, Regulated Industries, Small Business Development, and Ways & Means committees.
