Young leaders take care of business

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter members at Sandy Creek High are Chicago bound for the association’s National Leadership Conference after clinching first and second place awards at the state conference.

All totaled, seven students qualified to represent Georgia and Fayette County at the national competition June 27-July3. They are Ellie Klarl and Jacob Reynolds (first place, hospitality management); Kyle Craven, Krystian Rojas and Tara McAfee (first place, 3-D animation); and Chidera Obinali and Megan D’Errico (second place, digital design and promotion).

Other students placing in the top 10 at the FBLA Georgia Leadership Conference are Tiarra Murphy (fifth place, sales presentation); Hannah Zeiler (seventh place, agribusiness and ninth place, securities and investments); and Amber Sullivan (10th place, securities and investments).

FBLA is a nonprofit education association that prepares students for careers in business and business-related fields.

The national awards program recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Through state-based competitions at the spring State Leadership Conference, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are eligible to compete for honors at the National Leadership Conference each summer.
