With only two points separating the first and second place teams at the Georgia High School Association’s Region 5 AAAA literary competition, the Sandy Creek High School literary team made a strong showing by finishing second overall.

All members of the school’s 12-person team placed either first or second in their respective events at the regional competition in LaGrange on March 3. One member, Jordan Fason, won first place in Girls Extemporaneous Speaking.

As the winner of her regional competition, Fason will advance to the GHSA State Literary Meet on March 14 in Warner Robins.

The results were especially rewarding, since it has been several years since SCHS sent a team to the annual competition. The team was coached by SCHS Choral Director Craig Robertson.

The following students captured second place in their respective areas of competition;

Boys Extemporaneous Speaking, Ifeacho Awachie;

Girls Dramatic Interpretation, Lauren Nash;

Boys Dramatic Interpretation, Dylan Chisolm;

Girls Essay, Amanda Lockridge;

Girls Trio, Alanna Francisco, Sydney Harris, Shailla Head;

Boys Quartet, William Allen, Shunrodney Rosser, John Singleton, and Antonio Trapp.
