A Tyrone teen who was reported missing on Feb. 4 was located and returned home Thursday morning.

Police Chief Brandon Perkins said police were initially told that Dwayne Milton Smith, age 16, was last seen at the end of the school day on Wednesday wearing his blue ROTC dress uniform. Police later learned that Smith had changed clothes at school and was not wearing the ROTC uniform.

Perkins said Smith was found by Fairburn police along Bohannon Road at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday.

Perkins said the teenager had spent the night in a nearby wooded area, adding that the reason he did so is currently unknown.

Police were initially told that Smith made it to school on Wednesday but never made it on the bus after school to come home, Perkins said. Further investigation revealed that Smith did get on his bus and got off at his bus stop but did not go home, said Perkins.
