Piedmont Fayette Hospital is a Registered Safe Sitter Teaching Site, offering comprehensive babysitting training for young teens (11 and up). Nationally, over 600,000 graduates have completed the course and are able to stay home alone safely and handle emergencies when caring for younger children.
The up-to-date curriculum provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques designed to prepare babysitters to act in an emergency. Babysitters also receive instruction on how a child’s age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behavior and how to run their own babysitting business. A one-day training course is today from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, 1279 Medical Building, Conference Room C, 1279 Highway 54 West, Fayetteville, Ga. The Friends of the Library book sale is today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fayette County Public Library. Fayetteville. Over 9,000 gently-read books will be available for purchase. Prices range from $.25 for most children’s books to $5 for books by the latest best-selling authors. More than 25 different categories of books will be available and a separate group of tables will be set up for older classics and collectables. All proceeds go to the library for a number of activities including Baby Time, Sing and Play with Stories and Fayette Kids Read. Donations are accepted at the Library anytime. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newnan is hosting its fourth annual Flower Festival and Traditional English Tea today from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m..Guests are offered a serene afternoon to enjoy spectacular floral displays created by the ladies of the St. Paul’s Flower Guild. They will even reveal their creative secrets in a flower arranging demonstration.
Guests will also be treated to a music recital by St. Paul’s organist and choir director William Fred Scott, plus a solo by soprano Emily Budd.
