Fayetteville police are asking for the community’s help in locating a man who held up the Dollar General store on Banks Road near Ga. Highway 85 North during the mid-morning hours of Dec. 22.
Det. Mike Whitlow said a black male wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie entered the Dollar General store at 10:14 a.m. Monday. The man entered the store wearing a baseball cap with the hoodie pulled up over it and a black and white bandana covering his nose and mouth, Whitlow said.
Whitlow said the man went to the snack area of the store then went to the register with a bag of chips. It was at the register that he handed the clerk a note saying she had 10 seconds to give him the money in the cash register, Whitlow said.
The clerk put the money and the chips in a bag and the man left the store on foot heading east on Banks Road, Whitlow said.
Whitlow said there was no weapon visible during the robbery.
Fayetteville police units and those from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office searched the area but did not find the man.
“We believe he had a vehicle waiting in the area,” said Whitlow.
Whitlow said two suspects were located in the area but were not involved in the robbery and were not detained.
Anyone with information pertaining to this crime is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Dept. at 770-461-4441.
