The Campus, a private school in Peachtree City, recently hosted an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Fundraiser and raised $400 for the cause.
Students were invited throughout their school week to pre-purchase buckets of ice water for $10 a piece and designate an instructor or administrator to receive their icy wrath.
On Sept. 4, students from elementary, middle and high school took to our field to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge.
In total, 17 instructors/administrators were good sports and participated in the challenge, receiving a cumulative total of 40 drenchings.
“It is such a blessing when students can laugh and enjoy one another’s company and at the same time raise money for a good cause,” said Evelyn M. Plott, headmaster.
The idea was the brainchild of Middle School Director Dena Thomas, whose husband, Fred, died in 2004 of the terrible disease.
“I feel like the idea came from the Lord because the whole idea came to me at once,” said Thomas. “It was a big surprise that the students were so giving with their money. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all the families and students who contributed to the cause. The money will be donated to ALS of Georgia and be used to support the families and patients dealing with ALS.”
The Campus, which has been in existence for over a decade, serving students in a multi-county area, including Fayette, Coweta, Fulton, Clayton and Douglas counties.
