If you missed the sold out concert at Spivey Hall in March, now’s your chance to hear the Southern Crescent Chorale again in the world renowned venue. The Chorale is proud to have been selected to perform for The Georgia Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Conference on Thursday, June 26 at 8:00 p.m. The conference is the primary event for Ga. ACDA organization and is held each year at Spivey Hall, on the campus of Clayton State University. Without fail, this conference is rich with outstanding clinicians, reading sessions, interest sessions, and fine performances by honor choirs and choral groups from around our state. Although the concert is a part of the conference, it will be opened to the public. The concert will feature pieces from the Chorale’s recent Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs concert in March. Rachel’s Ray of Hope Golf Tournament is today from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Whitewater Creek Country Club in Fayetteville. Cost is $100 per player or $350 per team.

Run for Life 5K is today from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center in Fayetteville. Join the Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center for its second annual Run for Life 5K. The race begins at 8 a.m. and a tot trot follows at 9:15 a.m. Awards to follow the event. The cost of the 5K is $20 before race day and $25 on day of event. The Fayette County Public Library invites the public to come at 1 p.m. to hear local author and entrepreneur Milton Davis give his ever-popular presentation on “Publishing Your Book.” This free program will be full of valuable information for all new and aspiring authors hoping to get their words out into the world.

Bloom Foster Care, licensed by Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, is seeking foster parents from Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Clayton, South Fulton, Douglas Counties and areas within proximity to Fayetteville. Foster homes are needed for sibling groups, children under the age of 5, and teenagers. Foster parents may be married or single and do not have to own their own homes. “WWII: The History Behind it All” is today from noon to 1 p.m. at Fayette Senior Services in Peachtree City. Steve Quisenberry, history teacher at Newnan High School and renowned war historian, will enlighten us on one of the most important dates in U.S. history – June 6, 1944. D-Day was the largest naval landing in military history and greatly impacted not only our nation, but the entire world. Join Steve as he takes us through a journey of this strategic event. Piedmont Newnan Hospital and The American Red Cross will host a blood drive 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Conference Room 2 of the hospital. The American Red Cross is seeking to increase blood donations during the summer months, a time when donations typically drop, as part of its campaign, “100 Days of Summer. 100 Days of Hope.” To give blood, a donor must be: in good health; age 17 years or older; weigh at least 110 pounds; not have donated blood within the last 56 days; and, show a valid photo I.D. It is recommended donors eat a snack or meal within two hours prior to donating blood.

Peachtree City’s annual July 4 parade begins at 9 a.m. on Peachtree Parkway South. This year’s Public Safety Demo will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Drake Field (adjacent to City Hall). Meet Peachtree City’s firefighters and police officers, see the canines, join in the annual water battle, watch the Jaws of Life demo, and tour the fire safety bus. Bring along your bicycle and helmet for a bike safety rodeo with a police mountain bike instructor. While you’re there, check out the new 4th Fest at City Hall Plaza, featuring live music by “This Side Up” and “Second Chance.” Activities will include a rock climbing wall, inflatables, face painting, contests, public safety demonstrations, food vendors, local nonprofit organizations, and much more!
Then close out Independence Day with Peachtree City’s fabulous fireworks display beginning at dusk.

Come join the riders and volunteers of SouthSide Cycling Club for a relaxing bike ride through beautiful central Georgia! Light traffic. This ride offers options of 8.2, 33, 66 and 99 miles. Fully provisioned rest stops no further than 20 miles apart on all routes. Free T-shirts. Coupons and good deals after in and around historic Senoia. The 99 mile ride kicks off at 7 a.m. at Senoia United Methodist Church.
The 66 and 33 start at 8AM. The 8 mile family fun ride will start shortly after, about 8:30 a.m. There is a 10 percent discount for Southside Cycling Club members with early registration. Early registration is $34 through June 30. SSCC Club members- $29 also through June 30.

A tomato tasting party is from 9 a.m. to noon at the Peachtree City Farmers Market in Aberdeen Village Shopping Center parking lot in Peachtree City If you’d like to tickle your taste-buds and sample some tried-and-true heirloom favorites as well as some newer hybrids, don’t miss this old-fashioned tomato tasting party, sponsored by Down to Earth Organics Association. Club members will bring cut-up samples of their favorite tomatoes for attendees at the market to taste. Fayette Woman is sponsoring and donating prizes for the “Best Cherry Tomato,” “Best Heirloom Tomato,” “Best Other-than-Heirloom Tomato” and a prize for the “Biggest Tomato” by weight.
