he June 16 meeting of the Fayette County Board of Education included an item that addressed the potential for restoring seventh-grade athletics that were removed from the budget last year.
Superintendent Jody Barrow said he had received a number of emails on the issue.
“I don’t think anyone is against it. We do have to be fiscally conservative and I think we can make it happen in the future,” said Barrow.
As important as having the available funds, Barrow said issues such as scheduling, planning and securing coaching are also of prime importance.
“So we need to work on it more,” Barrow said. “Perhaps we can look at it for next spring or the following fall, if we continue to maintain good finances.”
