The Coweta-Fayette Rotary Club on March 3 presented its inaugural “Citizen of the Year Award” to Backpack Buddies founder April Anderson (R). “April works tirelessly in the Coweta community to provide backpacks on the weekends for students who are less fortunate. The Backpack Buddies program currently assists 277 students in Coweta County through several schools and has a waiting list. Backpack buddies also hosts the Summer FUN program where she enlists the help of local organizations to adopt one of the three days per week during the summer to provide lunch and an activity to children in Senoia who are a part of the Backpack Buddies program,” said club President Ginger Jackson Queener (L).
