There are three categories for possible nomination; valor, achievement, or service. The valor category is based on heroic action in combat. The achievement category is for those Veterans who have made a significant contribution to the well being of the military in general. The service category is for a Veteran who has continued to serve the local community, state, or nation in an exemplary manner after leaving the military. In accordance with the Bylaws of the GMVHOF, a Georgia Military Veteran is a Veteran that was born in Georgia, or initially entered the military in Georgia, or has lived in Georgia for at least 10 years. Posthumous Veterans’ nominations are also accepted. If you know of a Georgia Veteran that qualifies in one or more of the above categories, please consider nominating him or her.

The primary objective of the Hall of Fame is to recognize some of the over 770,000 deserving Georgia Military Veterans who have contributed greatly to the well being of the United States of America while serving on Active Duty, in the Reserve Forces, or the Georgia National Guard. An additional objective is to allow this Hall of Fame to be a source of history lessons for students throughout the State.
