Jenny Jones has been named Newnan-Coweta Art Association’s Artist of the Month for August.
Jones teaches classes at the Corner Arts Gallery & Studio at 14 Jefferson Street in Newnan. She is also the owner of Corner Arts Gallery. Jones felt the need for a local artist gallery in downtown Newnan.
There are over 30 local artist’s works in the gallery, classes and workshops of all kinds, featured artists each month, studio space, and Paint Night, featuring a new painting each week on Friday nights and also parties for children through adults.
The gallery also rents space for showers and small get-togethers which could be catered and there is a small kitchen in the classroom.
She is a native of Newnan and Coweta County and a Newnan High School graduate. Jones is a member of the Unity Baptist Church of Newnan, the Newnan Coweta Art Association, and was employed with Newnan Utilities for 26 years and retired in 2009. She has two daughters, Aimee, Sarah, a son-in-law Brad, and grandson, Jones.
The association meets the third Thursday each month, from September through May, at the Harriet Alexander Art Center on Hospital Road at 7 p.m. Visitors and new members are welcome. An art demonstration is presented each month.
