Letter to the Editor: Brian Jack’s Accountability Issue

I want to talk about one thing when it comes to the race for Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District. And that’s accountability.

Congressman Brian Jack displays a shocking lack of it.

In an interview with Citizen columnist Kenneth Hamner back in January of 2025, he promised to hold 15 Town Halls before leaving office—one in every County he represents.

To date, he’s held none. Why’s that important?

When his constituents found out he’s been taking money from Data Center owners, executives, and Super PACs, we wanted to talk to him about that.

When his constituents found out he was supporting the largest ever healthcare cut in American history, we wanted to talk to him about that.

When his constituents saw his votes to remove power from Congress and give the President full authority to wage war in the Middle East, we wanted to talk to him about that. When we saw inflation-bringing tariffs go into effect, we wanted the same thing.

And when we realized just how much that War and those tariffs were actually hurting our day-to-day lives, we really wanted to talk to him.

A lot of us reached out. But still, silence.

He never held a Town Hall, and his constituency services office left everyone I know on read, and his campaign website is clearly out-of-date. No respect for the people of District Three.

In his recent debate with Lt. Col. (Ret.) Maura Keller, Brian Jack refused to acknowledge his role in shaping our current distressed economic situation. He talked as if living in some fairy tale where his constituents have been happy with his decisions in Congress.

In reality, gas and diesel went through the roof. Beef prices were out of control, then he helped bring in cheap imports that immediately hurt our cattle ranchers here in District 3. Healthcare premiums soared. Grocery prices sky-rocketed.

He also refused to take any blame for the harm his USAID cuts caused us both diplomatically and with respect to national security. Keller put it succinctly: “When we pull out, our enemies move in,” referencing Russia and China.

He refused to acknowledge his role in continuing the Iran War, repeating the same talking points about the president negotiating a peaceful settlement he’s been saying for 6 months. Most of what Jack said about his policies during the debate he actually said in 2024. He’s not adapting to our current needs because he’s not communicating with us.

As a citizen of the 3rd Congressional District, the only tangible policy I can see from Brian Jack’s campaign is that he’s aligned with the President. When you drive around Coweta County, Fayette County, all you see from him is big signs that have that “Trump Endorsed” slogan printed on the bottom. To him, the only message his voters need is that he does whatever his Washington elite bosses want him to.

And then he touts his 100% voting record as if what he’s voting for doesn’t matter. Congratulations, you showed up for work. Do you need a pat on the back for that? The House was only in session for 72 days this year, leaving plenty of time to host Town Halls.

That’s not good enough.

Unfortunately for Brian Jack, the era of not accomplishing anything for your District and then waltzing into a gerrymander-ensured victory is over. The era of rich kid, private school elites representing working class people is over. You do not get to be a Congressman just because you really, really want to be one. It’s time to vote for change.

And, frankly, the only accountability he’ll probably ever face will be election day this Tuesday. Two years of not engaging with your constituents, not listening to their cries for economic help, and not standing up to the President at the expense of their bank accounts adds up.

True Colors

In addition to his lack of accountability, we’ve also been able to see Jack’s strength of character these past few weeks. It’s weak.

He’s had to play defense for the first time in his young career as a representative, and he’s showing how ugly politics can be.

Right now, he’s running Facebook ads using doctored images of social media posts by Mrs. Keller to spread lies about her policies. He can’t defend his record, so his only campaign platform seems to be talking about girl’s high school sports. To boost his message, he’s accepting tens of thousands of AI Super PAC money.

When someone lacks accountability to this extent, someone else finally standing up and holding him to account can cause an ugly response.

So, as one of his 800,000 constituents who never got the chance to talk to him in an open public setting, I charge Brian Jack with one task:

Behave more appropriately, and take accountability, or stop running for office.

Sincerely,

Max Ruth from Newnan
