It’s movie night at the Fayette County Public Library. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
and concerns an exploration of autism from the point of view of autistic people. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Coweta County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers are holding a propagation workshop, “Propagating Shrubs and Plants from Softwood Cuttings” from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Coweta County Extension Greenhouse located just inside the Coweta County Fairgrounds next to the Horse Arena, at 275 Pine Road in Newnan.

American Legion Post 105 will conduct a Dedication Ceremony of a memorial plaque honoring Lt Robert Collins on Wednesday, today. Collins was a local soldier killed in action in 2010 while serving in Iraq.  The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Tyrone Post Office which was named for Lt. Collins in 2011. The plaque contains photographs of Lt. Collins and is intended to remind the community of his sacrifice for our country.  The public is invited.

The Princesses are returning to Fayetteville. Twilight Theatre is proud to  announce the sixth performance of The Princess Tea Party at the Historic Fayetteville Train Depot. Join this enchanting group of storybook princesses in  
an afternoon filled with magical stories and enchanting singing about living, loving and dreaming big! This show is the perfect way to make your little  
princess feel like true royalty. Each show is followed by a tea party  included in the ticket price and hosted by the Princesses.
This year’s performance is directed by Amanda McDonald of Fayetteville. Performances are today at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for children, seniors, and military; $12 for adults.  Reservations are strongly suggested for each of the shows. The fifth annual Ultimate Car Show is from 9 a.m. to noon at SouthTowne in Newnan. The show features a D.J., food and drinks, door prizes, raffles, silent auction, 50/50 and more.  Proceeds benefit local charities in Coweta and Fayette counties. Opekuat Great Skate Across Peachtree City  is today at 11:30 a.m. at Kedron Elementary School with a departure time of 12 noon. Participants will skate to the skateboard park via golf cart paths. Estimated travel time is one hour.  At the skate park, hamburgers, hot dogs, and sodas will be served, and various fun activities are planned.  Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 participants.  Participants under 12 years old need to be accompanied by a parent, and skaters 16 years old or younger need to abide by the helmet law of Peachtree City.  Participation is limited to the first 100 who register.  All activities, everything, is free, but donations of $5 or more would be greatly appreciated to help cover costs.

The Fred will play host to two Motown legendary bands today. The Temptations and The Four Tops will perform  some of the biggest hits in Motown  history  under the stars in Peachtree City. Although the show is nearly sold out, there are still a few reserved seats available. The Temptations take the stage at 8 p.m., and The Tops perform at 9:30 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Peachtree City’s parade honoring Peachtree City’s Vietnam Veterans is today at 9 a.m. In honor of the 40th Anniversary of the last combat troops leaving Vietnam in 1973, Peachtree City’s July 4  Parade this year features a special tribute to our Vietnam veterans.  If you have a Vietnam Veteran in your family and would like to enter a decorated golf cart for them to ride in on the fourth, please note that this is for a Vietnam Veteran when you register.  All carts for Vietnam Veterans will be grouped together at the start of the parade. If you are a Peachtree City resident who served in Vietnam and do not have a cart available but would like to participate, please email info@peachtree-city.org. If you have a red, white, or blue golf cart you would be willing to lend for this event (Peachtree City registration not required), or would like to help in some other way, please email John Stern at info@johnsgolfcars.com.

The Annual Let Freedom Ring ceremony is today on the grounds of the old Fayette County Courthouse. The ceremony is at 2 p.m. The short 20 minute program will honor the men who signed the Declaration of Independence with each state’s name and the names of the men from that state who signed the Declaration.
As each state and the signor’s name is read, a bell will be rung in recognition. The Marquis de Lafayette Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will provide a color guard that will post the colors and provide a musket salute. The Button Gwinnett Society Children of the American Revolution will participate as well.You will need to bring a lawn chair for seating. The Fayette County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a hitting and base running baseball clinic today from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Kiwanis Park Field No. 7. The clinic is for ages 12-14 and the deadline to register is July 5. The fee is $15 for a county resident and $22.50 for a non-county resident.

The “Pedal for Pets” bicycle ride in Senoia is today. The ride is hosted by the Southside Cycling Club and offers four different mileage options to accomodate cyclists of all levels. Proceeds from the ride go to the H.E.L.P. Spay and Neuter Clinic of Newan. Information: www.pedalforpets.org.

Don’t miss the old-fashioned Tomato-Tasting Party at the Peachtree City Farmers Market today from 9 a.m. to noon. Down to Earth Organics Association is hosting the event and club members will be bringing cut-up samples of their favorite tomatoes, including heirlooms and newer hybrids, for attendees at the market to taste. Fayette Woman Magazine is sponsoring and donating prizes for the “Best Cherry Tomato,” “Best Heirloom Tomato,” “Best Other-than-Heirloom Tomato” and a prize for the “Biggest Tomato” by weight.

If you’d like to enter your own tomatoes in the tasting or biggest tomato contest, arrive at the Peachtree City Farmers Market no later than 8:00 a.m. Bring at least three or four tomatoes (more if cherry) of each variety you are entering in the tasting contest. Clearly label the variety, include contact information and place each variety in a separate bag. Please make sure your entries have not been sprayed with any synthetic fertilizer or pesticide.
