The Coweta County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers are holding a propagation workshop, “Propagating Shrubs and Plants from Softwood Cuttings” from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Coweta County Extension Greenhouse located just inside the Coweta County Fairgrounds next to the Horse Arena, at 275 Pine Road in Newnan.
American Legion Post 105 will conduct a Dedication Ceremony of a memorial plaque honoring Lt Robert Collins on Wednesday, today. Collins was a local soldier killed in action in 2010 while serving in Iraq. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Tyrone Post Office which was named for Lt. Collins in 2011. The plaque contains photographs of Lt. Collins and is intended to remind the community of his sacrifice for our country. The public is invited.

The fifth annual Ultimate Car Show is from 9 a.m. to noon at SouthTowne in Newnan. The show features a D.J., food and drinks, door prizes, raffles, silent auction, 50/50 and more. Opekuat Great Skate Across Peachtree City is today at 11:30 a.m. at Kedron Elementary School with a departure time of 12 noon. Participants will skate to the skateboard park via golf cart paths. Estimated travel time is one hour. At the skate park, hamburgers, hot dogs, and sodas will be served, and various fun activities are planned. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 participants. Participants under 12 years old need to be accompanied by a parent, and skaters 16 years old or younger need to abide by the helmet law of Peachtree City. Participation is limited to the first 100 who register. All activities, everything, is free, but donations of $5 or more would be greatly appreciated to help cover costs.
The Fred will play host to two Motown legendary bands today. The Temptations and The Four Tops will perform some of the biggest hits in Motown history under the stars in Peachtree City. Although the show is nearly sold out, there are still a few reserved seats available. The Temptations take the stage at 8 p.m., and The Tops perform at 9:30 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Peachtree City’s parade honoring Peachtree City’s Vietnam Veterans is today at 9 a.m. In honor of the 40th Anniversary of the last combat troops leaving Vietnam in 1973, Peachtree City’s July 4 Parade this year features a special tribute to our Vietnam veterans. If you have a Vietnam Veteran in your family and would like to enter a decorated golf cart for them to ride in on the fourth, please note that this is for a Vietnam Veteran when you register. All carts for Vietnam Veterans will be grouped together at the start of the parade. If you are a Peachtree City resident who served in Vietnam and do not have a cart available but would like to participate, please email info@peachtree-city.org. The Annual Let Freedom Ring ceremony is today on the grounds of the old Fayette County Courthouse. The ceremony is at 2 p.m. The short 20 minute program will honor the men who signed the Declaration of Independence with each state’s name and the names of the men from that state who signed the Declaration.
As each state and the signor’s name is read, a bell will be rung in recognition. The Marquis de Lafayette Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will provide a color guard that will post the colors and provide a musket salute. The Button Gwinnett Society Children of the American Revolution will participate as well.You will need to bring a lawn chair for seating. The Fayette County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a hitting and base running baseball clinic today from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Kiwanis Park Field No. 7.
