Project Linus is a non-profit organization that delivers blankets to charitable organizations. These organizations are involved in serving children in Fayette Countywho are dealing with traumatic situations in their lives.

We started delivering Project Linus blankets around Fayette County in September of 2010. Since that time, we have delivered a total of 1,155 blankets. Our blankets are distributed to the Fayette Piedmont Hospital Preemie Ward, the Fayette Youth Protection Home, the Promise Place battered womens’ shelter, the Fayette Sheriffs’ Department and the Fayette Family and Children’s Services. After Hurricane Sandy, we sent 147 blankets North to be distributed to children affected by the hurricane.

We have approximately 30 volunteers inlcuding ages ranging from teens to senior citizens. We sew, knit, crochet and do no-sew blankets for Project Linus. We meet at Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until noon, and the third Wednesday of each month from noon until 3 p.m. The address is 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville, Ga.

Our only funding comes from individual donations given by friends, along with a generous monthly donation from Fellowship of Love Church. We are always in need of volunteers and donations of materials and money. Please keep us in mind as you go about your Spring Cleaning. We are in need of fleece and flannel fabric done in childrens’ color and designs. We also need fabric panels in childrens’ designs. We can always use sewing items such at thread, scissors, etc., and working sewing machines.

If you are able to help with a donation, or would like to be a sponsor; please contact Shirley at 770-487-8974.
