A burglary at the Ga. Power store on South Glynn Street in Fayetteville during the early morning hours of Dec. 31 came after burglars broke through the wall of the adjacent Goodwill store and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Det. Mike Whitlow said Ga. Power employees contacted Fayetteville police about the break-in at 8:24 a.m. Monday after arriving at work.

Whitlow said several burglars entered the Goodwill store next door by forcing the front door open after trying unsuccessfully to gain entry to a vacant storefront on the opposite side of the Ga. Power office.

Once inside the Goodwill store, the burglars busted a hole in the wall and entered the Ga. Power office, Whitlow said.

Whitlow said the burglars were in the Ga. Power office for a long time, adding that it appears that only cash was stolen. The amount of cash stolen is currently undetermined, Whitlow added.

Whitlow said investigators are currently reviewing video footage from nearby businesses and are checking to determine if similar crimes have been committed in the area.

Anyone passing by the Ga. Power store between midnight and 5 a.m. on Dec. 31 or anyone with information pertaining to this crime is asked to contact Fayetteville Police at 770-461-4441.
