The things that go bump in the night will be celebrated all weekend long at the Days of the Dead convention at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center in Peachtree City. Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday and the event lasts until 5 p.m. Sunday.

The convention honors the creators of horror movies, television programs, comics, music and more as well as the fans who have made the genre as popular as it is today. In addition to guests like Roddy Piper (“They Live”), Gary Busey (“Piranha 3DD”), Derek Mears (“Friday the 13th”), Linnea Quigley (“Return of the Living Dead”) and many, many more guests, Days of the Dead will have film screenings, costume contests and balls, the Hell on Wheels Hearse Show on Saturday, tattoo contests, panels with guests, rooms full of vendors and makeup seminars. The full schedule is available at daysofthedead.net.

“We’ve added some new panels to the schedule and things like the Hearse show, but I’m interested to see what the fans bring to the convention,” said one of the organizers Adolfo Dorta. “When we did it in Indianapolis fans really made it their own. I’m really excited to see how Atlanta does it.”

Dorta said that ticket sales have been going great and that they are looking to exceed expectations this weekend.

The screenings, guests and overall atmosphere are obviously a big draw for Days of the Dead but the vendor room that features the work of numerous artists as well as merchants, magazines and more will give the people plenty to peruse as they make their way around the event. Dorta expects a party-like atmosphere and is sure the South’s biggest horror fans will not disappoint.
