A landscape plan for the new Sany America campus on the south end of the Peachtree City industrial park has been approved.
The plan includes canopy trees lining the entrance and access drives and also in the parking area. Trees also will be stationed along half of the “oval” drive that runs in front of the building.
Other trees will be planted in a landscaped area north of the 350,000 square foot assembly building. That area includes a walkway and a basketball court for employees to use.
The landscape plan was approved by the Peachtree City Planning Commission at its Aug. 11 meeting.
The oval drive in front of the building includes five different pads upon which Sany will display some of its heavy equipment so it can be viewed by prospective clients.
Of the 228 acre site, 106 acres is undevelopable. While the first phase of the site includes a total of 22.2 acres of impervious surface, Sany is leaving 11.7 acres of developable space as a tree save area.
At the request of Planning Commissioner Lynda Wojcik, the commission added a condition to the plan’s approval in addition to those listed by staff. The new condition requires that if Sany ever comes back wishing to develop in the 11-acre tree save area that the company must replace the canopy trees it didn’t have to plant thanks to a tree save credit of 25 percent granted by city staff.
Planning Commissioner Patrick Staples noted that Sany’s landscaping will “far exceed” the type of product that we generate in our industrial park.
