This June the Peachtree City Police Department will again host a Junior Police Academy, a week-long and hands-on peek into police work for local students between 12 and 17 years old.

The academy will provide basic information about the police profession and the daily operations of the Peachtree City Police Department. Participants will have the chance to take part in hands-on training in many aspects of law enforcement, including a ride-along with an officer.

The main objective is to foster a partnership with local teens and the police department through training and education, while also establishing and maintaining positive communications, officials said. This is the third year the department will host the event.

This Academy will be held June 6-10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Peachtree City Police Department Headquarters, located at 350 Ga. Highway 74 south. Snacks will be provided; however, students will be responsible for bringing their lunch.

Applications are available at City Hall, the Police Department, Booth Middle School, and McIntosh High School.  Applications are due no later than May 31.
