Sandy Creek High School’s chorus and drama departments will present “Little Shop of Horrors” at Sandy Creek’s Patriot Hall Auditorium Thursday – Sunday, Mar. 24-27. The show is directed by the SCHS drama teacher, Kathy Andersen, and the musical director is Millie Lanier Turek, SCHS’s chorus teacher. Choreographer for the show is Jonsie Pollock.

A down-and out skid row floral assistant named Seymour (Adam Van Dyke) becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination.

One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty And The Beast” and “Aladdin.” Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, “Little Shop of Horrors” never fails to entertain. A small cast, band and unit set make the other aspects of production a snap.

Joining Van Dyke are DeAnna McDuffie as Audrey, Lucas Sparks as Mr. Mushnik, Will Adams as Orin, the Dentist, Breeana Minton, Lauriel Stewart, and Autumn Robertson as Crystal, Chiffon, and Ronette and Omari Allen as the voice of Audrey II.

Company includes Andre Allen, Toi Allen, Chisom Awachie, Katelynn Dallman, Taylor Fields, Gabrielle Geiger, Heather Gordon, Rachel Hamil, Brett Heard, Galwyn Hill, Jenna Hughes, Courtney Justice, Sara Ledford, Ajsha Long, Jacori McDaniel, Jerrell Melton, Austin Monk, Aarin Palomares, Jordan Powell, Keiria Saulsberry, Micah Smith, and Ali Stebar.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the school in the front office in advance for $7 per person and will be available at the box office on sale for $10 per person thirty minutes prior to each performance.
