Veterans Day Remembrance on November 13 accepting Toys for Tots
Peachtree City’s official Veterans Day Remembrance will be held on Saturday, November 13, 10:00 a.m., at the Commemorative Air Force hangar at Falcon Field. Sponsored by local VFW, American Legion and Marine Corps League veteran groups and the City Recreation Department, this year’s event will highlight the Korean War in observance of the 60th anniversary of the start of that war. Toys for Tots will also be collected for the coming holiday season. Visit www.peachtree-city.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=520 for more information and to watch a video about the event.

Traffic Alerts
Hip Pocket Road – This week, Public Works will be making repairs to the path along Hip Picket Road. Some work may require temporary lane closures – please use extra caution in this area when crews are present.
Harbor Loop – Next week, Harbor Loop (Fishers Bank neighborhood in Glenloch Village) will be closed to through traffic for a stormwater pipe replacement. The work will begin on Monday, November 15, and is expected to be completed on Thursday, November 18.

Fire Hydrant Maintenance & Painting
In the next few weeks, the PTC Fire Department will be repainting all public fire hydrants in the City. The first phase will involve painting the hydrant bodies a metallic silver to improve visibility at night and in bad weather. Then, the FD Explorer Post will paint the hydrant caps and tops a color that corresponds to the hydrant’s water flow. Please make sure fire hydrants on your property are clear of bushes and debris. Every effort will be made to prevent overspray from getting on plants and grass but it is a possibility. The silver paint will take several days to dry, so avoid contact to prevent damage to clothing. Please contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 770-631-2526 with questions or concerns.

PD hosting Facebook & Online Safety Forum on November 18
The Peachtree City Police Department will host a Facebook and Online Safety Forum on Thursday, November 18, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., at 350 S. Hwy 74. The forum is free of charge and is designed to provide an overview of the safety and security features available on Facebook and safeguards for online activity. The department would like to reach out to entire families, as well as individuals who would like to attend, because the views of parents can sometimes be quite different from the views of teens and young adults. The forum is open to the first 40 registrants – sign up via email with rdove@peachtree-city.org and please provide the first and last name and age of each registrant. This forum is recommended for everyone 13 years of age or older. Light refreshments will be provided.
