A building that will include a karate studio and several shops behind the CVS Pharmacy in the Lexington Circle shopping center was approved by the Peachtree City Planning Commission Monday night.
At just under 14,000 square feet, the development will be directly across from the townhome development at Lexington Circle.
The front of the studio and shops will face the CVS Pharmacy and Ga. Highway 54, although the city initially wanted it to face the townhomes. This was mitigated somewhat by the significant drop off in grade from the internal road down to the property.
The developer also has agreed to install a large walkway that will be in front of the studio and shops to help link the El Reposo restaurant with Bruster’s Ice Cream, making the development more friendly for pedestrians.
Planning Commissioner Theo Scott lauded the development for that very reason, and also for taking the commission’s suggestion to heart.
“I think y’all did a good job. I really do,” Scott said at Monday’s meeting.
The property also has room for a future 10,000 square foot building that is being contemplated for a restaurant and/or office space.
