The B-52s bring their party-music revolution to Peachtree City on Saturday, July 24 at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater as part of the 2010 BMW of South Atlanta Summer Concert Series. It has been said that the B-52s are as American as the Beach Boys, and with their thirty plus years of experience and over twenty million albums into their career, the B-52s remain among the most beloved rock stars ever.
“We are looking forward to having the B-52s play ‘The Fred’,” said Nancy Price, Amphitheater Manager. “B-52s have been highly requested for on our survey for years, and I’m glad we are able to bring them to Peachtree City. The crowd is in for a fun night!”
Named after the Southern slang for exaggerated ‘bouffant” hairdos, the B-52s first made their debut on the club scene in the late 1970’s and continue today to bring their blend of dance-rock to the masses. B-52s features founding members Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, and Cindy Wilson playing to entertain the crowd with music they hope will get people dancing. Their music has produced classic hits like “Rock Lobster,” “Planet Claire,” “Private Idaho” and Top 40 hits like “Love Shack,” and “Roam.”
Taking the stage to open for The B-52s will be the Athens-based band, Supercluster. Supercluster’s music has been described from trance/dance to “Appalachian Wave.” The band is comprised of an eclectic combination of elements – three female vocalists, upbeat rhythms, violin, mandolin, clarinets, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and angular electric guitar. Supercluster is supporting the B-52s for several dates on their tour.
