It promises to be a unique blend of original jazz and rock April 10 at the Wyndham in Peachtree City as a Florida-based group of air traffic controllers known as Aire Traffic takes to the stage to benefit the upcoming 6th Annual Race for Riley fundraiser. Proceeds go to the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville.
Band member David Blumberg said the Race for Riley event will mark the band’s first trip to Georgia.

The doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. A silent auction will be held before the music starts and again at intermission.
A live auction will also be held just before the second set begins.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children ages 10 and under. Seating is limited to 300, with approximately half that number already sold, Blumberg said.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting Waynette Peek at 770-463-0714 or by visiting the Race for Riley website at http://raceforriley.org
For their part, Aire Traffic has a history of fundraising for children’s causes. Hearing about the annual Race for Riley, the band decided to make the event their first fundraising effort in Georgia.

In 1996, two air traffic controllers from the Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Center (Wayne Lee and David Blumberg) were impassioned to combine their love for music and aviation in order to benefit cancer research.

In 2004, Aire Traffic began its partnership with Children’s Miracle Network. Using aviation as an inspiration in writing, producing, and performing their music, the current eight member band continues to entertain while raising money for Children’s Miracle Network to benefit the pediatric programs of Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

As of October 2009, Aire Traffic has raised over $50,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network and close to $400,000 for cancer research.

Thousands attend the Race for Riley fundraiser each year. For more information about the April 24 Race for Riley on the grounds of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Palmetto call 770-463-0714 or visit http://raceforriley.org
