About 140 Realtors from across the state attended The Georgia Association of Realtors 2010 Legislative Appreciation Luncheon at the Georgia Railroad Depot adjacent to the State Capitol on February 22. The guest speaker was the Speaker of the House, David Ralston.
Speaker David Ralston, Speaker Pro Tem, Jan Jones and representatives of Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle took time from their busy schedules to discuss legislation with the group. Among topics discussed were water conservation, the environment, the state budget, and mortgage foreclosures.
The Fayette County Board of REALTORS is a protector of private property rights of all Georgia citizens. The local Government Affairs unit works in concert with that of the Georgia and National Associations of REALTORS, keeping track of legislation as it is introduced, amended and as it works its way toward becoming law. The Committee is actively engaged in monitoring and affecting legislation involving the real estate industry and the protection of private property rights for the citizens of Georgia.
With over 1 million members nationwide and over 33,000 here in Georgia, REALTORS are one of the largest and most influential trade associations at all levels of government. All real estate licensees are not the same. Only real estate licensees who are members of the National Association of REALTORS are properly called REALTORS. REALTORS subscribe to a strict code of ethics and are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying, selling, and leasing real estate.
The Fayette County Board of REALTORS is a voluntary professional association of approximately 500 licensed real estate brokers and salespersons engaged in all aspects of the real estate business throughout the county and surrounding areas. FCBR is the local advocate for the real estate industry in Fayette county, committed to protecting private property rights and free enterprise, maintaining ethical and professional standards, and enhancing the public’s awareness and confidence in REALTORS.
