Fred Ross Birdsong, 90, of Tyrone Ga. passed away June 19, 2017.

Fred was born in Roanoke, Ala., the son of Emmett and Pearl Birdsong. He graduated from Handley High School in 1944. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II from 1944-1946 in the 200th Infantry Regiment. After his service, he returned and graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1948 as an aircraft mechanic. He was employed with Delta Air Lines for 34 years and retired as an aircraft inspector. Fred was a Master Mason and was a member of the East Point Ga. Lodge.

Mr. Birdsong was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Allen Birdsong. They had three children. Ann Kirkpatrick of Roanoke, Ala., Kathy and Gordon Stephens of Loganville, Ga. and David Birdsong of Hackettstown, N.J. Mr. Birdsong has six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and was predeceased by one great-great grandchild.  He lost his second wife, Hazel Longino Birdsong on April 26, 2017, they had recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

They were members of The Rock Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ga. He loved working in his yard and going to Chick-fil-A everyday for lunch.

The family would like to thank the staff of Precious Hospice and Southwest Christian Care Hospice for their kind treatment and love they showed our father.

Mr. Birdsong was a wonderful husband and father and lived a happy full life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
