Author study makes reading fun

The media center at Spring Hill Elementary was busier than a barnyard! Spring Hill kindergarteners participated in a month-long author study of Doreen Cronin during weekly library time, and they added to the fun by making masks of some of the animals in her books.

“We compared characters and settings in each book we read, and students learned the purpose of the greeting and signature in a letter. Students focused on identifying details in illustrations that add information to the text,” said media center specialist Katie Arp. “Everyone enjoyed mooing, clucking, and quacking along with the characters!”
