Carol Littmann passed away peacefully on January 8, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Littmann of Peachtree City; her son, Paul; daughter-in-law, Jamie; and granddaughters, Hannah and Haley as well as their respective families. Growing up in Brownstown, IN and Perry, GA, she attended Perry High School. She was employed by the United States Air Force, retiring after 31 years.

Carol would say that her purpose in life was family. She always had a smile on her face, never harbored ill will toward anyone, and doted on her family with love and kindness.

Carol was a wife, mother, and grandmother, but she absolutely adored being a grandmother. She would spend her whole day guiding her granddaughters in their play kitchens, playing dress up, looking at storybooks, and making sure they were never anything less than full. Of course, we all loved Carol’s homemade treats. She made gorgeous braided cheese breads for church bake sales, and luckily, we always got to sample them.

If you told her you liked something, you best believe she wouldn’t forget, and with her huge heart, she’d make sure you felt special. She had everything you ever needed in her big, colorful purse: extra tissues, crackers, and candy. Most importantly, she had endless hugs. Her hugs were a special and rare kind – the kind that let you know it would all be okay.

Carol loved flowers and in particular those in the delicate hues of pinks, yellows and purples. She was a pro at keeping irises and narcissus bulbs looking spectacular which was not an easy feat. She had an eye for beauty.

We will miss her twinkly eyes, but we are happy we see the resemblance in her son. Mostly, we will miss that sweet smile on her face and the dance in her step when she would out of the blue start dancing to a Carrie Underwood song or talk about the days of “juking.” She had to explain that it referred to the days of dancing to the music of a jukebox, and oh how she would smile at the memories. We were always learning something new about Carol, Mom, Grandma, and Meemaw as she was a listener and just so content to be a part of this loving family that she had a big hand in creating. She accepted, loved, and supported all of us. We will miss her dearly, but we are so filled with gratitude to have had her in our lives for the time we did.

Carol also spent so much of her life volunteering at church and enjoyed every moment sharing her baking and modeling her love of God with others. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Peachtree City and a founding member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Warner Robins, GA.

She taught her granddaughters a nightly prayer to make sure they always felt safe, comforted, and watched over. We share it now to honor and channel her grace, love, and joy:

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my Soul to keep,

If I should die before I wake,

I pray the Lord my Soul to take.

Amen.

We love you eternally, Carol Mae Littmann.

In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests donations in Carol’s memory to St. Paul’s Lutheran School https://school.stpaulptc.org/support/ or a charity close to your heart.
