Tyrone’s Herobox organization, which provides customized care packages to soldiers deployed overseas, is hoping to turn a few clicks into $1 million.
That money, offered in a Facebook contest sponsored by Chase, would go a long way toward delivering more care packages.
Herobox is competing against 24 other organizations in the American Giving Awards program, and it needs the most votes to win. The good news is that even if Herobox misses the top spot, there are “substantial grants” for the top five companies, said Herobox founder and executive director Ryan Housley.
To vote for Herobox, Facebook users must first “like” the Chase Community Giving Program at www.facebook.com/ChaseCommunityGiving. They must also allow the page to access their account. From there, voters can click on the American Giving Awards tab and then cast their vote.
Chase is soliciting votes in five different categories:
• Educators and Mentors;
• Champions of Health and Wellness;
• Heroes and Leaders;
• Community Builders; and
• Youth Developers.
