A conceited young prince must earn the true love of an independent and adventurous young woman in “Beauty and the Beast Jr.”, an upcoming Booth Middle School musical production. The classic tale of the enchanted Beast’s transformation will take the McIntosh High School stage from Mar. 24-26.
“Beauty and the Beast Jr.” is a version of the hit Broadway musical adapted specifically for middle school performers. The musical tells the story of intelligent and beautiful Belle, who longs to escape her provincial life and her unwanted suitor, Gaston. Belle gets more adventure than she sought when she becomes a captive in the Beast’s enchanted castle. Dancing flatware, singing furniture, and marauding villagers fill the stage with excitement in this beloved fairy tale about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love.
Rachel Green of Booth Middle School is the show’s musical director. Performances will be on Mar. 24 and 25 at 5:30 and 8 p.m., with a matinee performance on Mar. 26 at 3 p.m., at the McIntosh High School Auditorium. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students and will be sold at Booth Middle, by the cast and at the door.
