Thomas Miles, a home-schooled 12-year-old who lives in Brooks, won two national championships earlier this month as a skeet shooter. He won a couple of national championship events last year as well.

Miles took several Georgia Skeet and Georgia state championship events in June and qualified to compete in the Junior World Skeet competition in Savannah.

“He is still in the early stages of his competitive career and shows tremendous (prodigy-like) potential,” according to someone familiar with his career.

At the 2016 SCTP Nationals in Ohio, he won first place in the rookie division of the skeet category as part of the Wolf Creek Shotgun Team. He came in tenth in the rookie division in the sporting clay category. In the trap category he finished sixth in the intermediate boys division.
