Ticket sales open Jan. 29 for the Friends of Wadsworth concert, the signature annual event of Newnan Cultural Arts Commission.

The evening of song and chamber music at Wadsworth Auditorium again features rising stars of the classical music world.

Returning as artistic director and host for the 2016 edition is Newnan’s own Courtenay Budd. Joining her are musicians Nokuthula Ngwenyama (viola), Wendy Sutter (cello), Laura Ward (piano) and Chee-Yun (violin). Budd, herself an accomplished soprano, will also be joined by internationally-known baritone Randall Scarlata.

Begun by Newnan famous son Charles Wadsworth, the local concert series is going strong after more than two decades.

The “2016 Friends of Wadsworth Concert: The Legacy Continues” will be 7:30 p.m. March 12 at Charles Wadsworth Auditorium, 25 Jefferson St. in downtown Newnan.

General admission tickets, $20, will be available Jan. 29 at www.brownpapertickets.com and at local outlets including: Let Them Eat Toffee downtown on North Court Square; the Coweta County Convention and Visitors Bureau in the historic Courthouse downtown; Matrix Insurance, 3111 Hwy. 34 E., Suite D, at Thomas Crossroads; and SouthTowne Motors, 695 Bullsboro Dr.

For updates check the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission section on the City of Newnan website (www.cityofnewnan.org) or see their Facebook page.
