Bell awarded highest rose society honor

Linda Reed, President of the South Metro Rose Society (SMRS) recently presented the American Rose Society (ARS) Bronze Honor Medal for 2014 to Stephen Bell.

The Bronze Medal is the highest award that can be given at the local rose society level and is given for outstanding service over a sustained period of time.

Bell is an ARS Consulting Rosarian and has served as SMRS president for two years and 2nd vice president before that. He has served many years on the Garden Committee and on the Rose Show Committee in addition to working at many public outreach events.

SMRS is a local affiliate of the American Rose Society and is dedicated to helping everyone grow and enjoy roses through educational programs and fun social events. It meets on the fourth Mondays of the months January through April and August through October at 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Bank, 440 N. Jeff Davis Dr. in Fayetteville. All rose enthusiasts, especially novices, are invited to visit the meetings at no charge. For more information call 770-631-3885.
