Teachers and students in all areas of the fine arts will have a unique opportunity to work directly with professionals from the Woodruff Arts Center thanks to a generous donation from a local sponsor.

The donation is in the form of a three-year grant that will fund programs for both teachers and students to ensure that the arts remain a vibrant part of Fayette County Public Schools.

The Woodruff Arts Center will work with its four partners, Alliance Theatre, Arts for Learning, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art to create arts-infused educational experiences that will take place both on the campus of the school system and at the center.

The first program implemented under the grant was a professional learning day for all fine arts teachers in the county.

Professionals from the Woodruff’s partners traveled to Fayette to meet with teachers on the campus of the LaFayette Educational Center.

The instructors led teachers in creative and interactive workshops for the first half of the day.

Focus areas included drama, dance, band, chorus, orchestra, elementary general chorus, and visual arts.

Teachers spent the second half of the day working in their learning communities, exchanging ideas and sharing best practices with their colleagues throughout the county.
