Winners of the Peachtree City Library’s “Ride the Wind” Art Competition were announced Aug. 9, during local author Larissa Reinhart’s signing of her latest Cherry Tucker mystery novel, “Death in Perspective.”
In the Elementary Category:
1st Place – Priyam Kadakia (Grade 6) for “Life Under the Sea”
2nd Place – Dominique Hairston (Grade 3) for “ Reading in the Wind”
3rd Place – Amanda Agnos (Grade 1) for “Sailboats in the Wind”
In the Youth Category:
1st Place – Jessica Shenning (Grade 8) for “Soaring Words”
2nd Place – Kailee Martin (Grade 12) for “Soaring Hot Air Balloons”
3rd Place – Abigail Willis (Grade 7) for “Roofus”
In the Adult Category:
1st Place – Jim Johns for “Silver Surfer Coming to Earth”
2nd Place – Jesse Gainsbrugh for “Cloud Sailing”
3rd Place – Anna Andreeva-Naydenova for “August at Noon”
Among the prizes awarded were prize ribbons, certificates, $50.00 Omega Books gift certificates, drawstring bags containing art supplies, and books. Judges were: Larissa Reinhart, author; Kate Hawkins, owner of Saville Studios; and Steve Brown, Fayette County Commissioner and Chairman of the Fayette County Public Arts Committee.
The awards ceremony and book signing were marked by a celebration including TCBY frozen yogurt, iced coffee, lemonade, punch, and cookies, enjoyed by all library patrons. All of the art entries will remain on display at the Peachtree City Library through Aug. 23.
