On Wednesday, December 17th, the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation (www.armyav.org), proudly escorted Santa Claus by helicopter to a landing zone in Fayetteville’s Trilith Community.  Close to 85 students from the Joseph Sams School (JSS), their teachers, many parents and dozens of Trilith residents were waiting to welcome and meet Santa.  The students were thrilled to meet Santa, and each was personally given a specially selected present by him.

The event was the result of a combined effort between the AAHF who supplied the helicopter “sleigh” and presents, The Joseph Sams School (JSS) who funded Santa, and Trilith who provided the Landing Zone (LZ) and on-site security.

JSS is a private, non-profit school serving children from birth through twenty-two years of age who have mild to severe intellectual and/or physical disabilities or are diagnosed with developed disabilities. The school provides intense educational training as well as speech and language therapy for its students.

The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes the history of Army Aviation and supports veterans’ causes by hosting and participating in aircraft and museum tours, school programs, air shows, and other public events across the country.

The two organizations joined forces with Trilith to produce this event for the second consecutive year.  It is a win-win situation that helps spread Christmas cheer among the local community and positively touches all who participate.  A video of the event is available on YouTube at Santa Claus Arrives in a UH-1 Huey Helicopter | Epic Christmas Arrival
