Crabapple Lane Elementary TRIAD students love sharing their writing, so they recently read Halloween stories with Principal Erik Falkenhagen.

Special education teacher April Esposito’s 5th grade TRIAD class has been focusing on idea development and writing organization. Each day, students have a new creative writing topic to work on. After class brainstorming and using their paragraph structure checklist, they spend about 30 minutes writing and illustrating their stories.

For a recent assignment, they were asked to imagine what it would be like if they met a monster named Frank. To help build confidence and practice reading to an audience, they took daily trips to the office throughout the week to share their Halloween-themed writings with Principal Falkenhagen.

Esposito loves seeing her class eager to share their stories.

“The students really enjoyed adding their own creative flair to the stories and were so proud to present their work.”
