Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and Congregation B’Nai Israel continue an 11-year tradition on April 27 when they sponsor a Holocaust Remembrance Service, Yom Ha’Shoah. The service is at 4 p.m., and this year takes place at Christ Our Shepherd in Peachtree City.

During the service 11 candles will be lighted after 11 brief readings to commemorate the 11 million innocent people who perished at the hands of the Nazi regime, six million Jews and five million others.

Singers from both congregations will combine to offer anthems of justice and hope. The Christ Our Shepherd Flute Choir will play, and will join the choir in singing songs and prayers from the Taizé community.

Cantorial Soloist Susan Burden will lead worship, along with Pastors Miriam Beecher and Fritz Wiese. Past speakers have included Holocaust survivors.

A reception will follow. There is no charge, and all are invited.
