The community is invited to celebrate Global Diversity Month this October with a series of events highlighting the culture of Brazil through music, dance, food, art, language, and film.
The celebration kicks off on Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 PM with an afternoon of live music, storytelling, Samba, authentic cuisine, and community fellowship. A special highlight will be a pop-up drumming lesson with Dr. Teddy Hall in front of the gazebo, offering an energetic and interactive experience for all ages.
“Global Diversity Month gives us an opportunity to bring people together to learn about and experience cultures from around the world,” said Michelle Bennett-Copeland. “This year we are excited to spotlight Brazil — a country known for its rich traditions, music, and vibrant spirit.”
Additional activities throughout the month include:
- Learn Basic Portuguese – Wednesdays, October 8 & 29, 1:00 PM
- Craft Club: Carnival Mask Making – Wednesday, October 15, 12:00 PM
- Global Diversity Movie Series: Celebrate Brazil! – October 10, 17, and 25 at 1:00 PM
Films include Central Station (1998), Black Orpheus (1959), and the animated family favorite Rio (2011).
