COS’s Pederson to attend ELCA national event

Christ Our Shepherd member Gary Pederson will attend the Churchwide Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America August 12-17 in Pittsburg, Pa.

He was elected to serve as a voting member by the Southeastern Synod, which encompasses Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.

For the first time, this assembly will be paperless. The 952 voting members will bring their own iPads or be furnished one for the duration of the meeting.

Pederson will help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the ELCA and take part in electing a presiding bishop and secretary.
