On Tuesday November 25, 2025, we unexpectedly lost our sister Mary-Beth Laprise at the young age of 64.
She was a simple, private person, who cared for others, had a deep rooted faith in God and was one heck of a baker!! But if you asked her, most importantly she loved being a dog Mom.
Denali was the light of her life, a beautiful husky that grabbed the attention of everyone who passed them on their daily walks. She loved Denali and her three other dogs who predeceased her: Duncan, Mya and Fred.
“Kate,” as we lovingly nicknamed her, loved all sports more than anyone we know. She often complained about the cost of cable TV because she really only needed a handful of channels- ESPN, ESPN2 NFL Network, NBA, and NHL network. She rarely watched the 150 other channels that came with her subscription! Of course being born in Massachusetts, her first love was the New England Patriots!
She worked for many years at Southcoast Neurosurgery in Dartmouth as the Surgical Scheduler and continued in a similar position after her move to Georgia 6 years ago working for Southern Pain and Spine in Fayetteville. She took tremendous pride in her work and was meticulous to a fault!! She was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City and told us all about the musician and singer Greg, who could “sing the phone book“ as she put it.
Mary Beth was born and raised in New Bedford Massachusetts by her devoted parents Arthur and Irene Caetano who predeceased her in 2014.
She is survived by her loving brother and sister in law Paul and Erica Caetano of Peachtree City who were not only her caretakers over the recent months but also her neighbors. She moved later in life from Massachusetts to Georgia, found a new job and bought a house in the backyard of her brother and sister-in-law. Guess that speaks to her love of family.
She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Jane McClelland of Massachusetts who she would have phone calls with multiple times a day and would refer to Jane as “Dr Phil” because she always was a phone call away to offer her advice and support. In addition to her siblings she is survived by her niece and goddaughter Amy Martinelli and her husband Tommy and her grand niece Demi Jayne whom she loved dearly, Nephew Mark Williams and his wife Amanda, Cousin Margie Collins, her 95-year-old Aunt Terry better known as “99”, and her two long time very best friends Theresa Costa and Ann Ferreira.
We would like to offer our thanks to Dr. Feinstein and the care team at Piedmont Cancer Institute and Dr. Anand at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta. Special thanks to the staff at Denali’s day care, Peachtree Pets, for all the compassion they have shown for our dear Mary Beth.
A private burial will take place in Massachusetts where Mary Beth will be laid to rest with her parents.
A memorial Mass with be said in her memory on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 8:45 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 101 Walt Banks Road, Peachtree City, GA. All are welcome to attend.
