In Loving Memory of David Edinger
September 24, 1958 –November 4, 2025
David Edinger was born on September 24, 1958, in New Jersey, but for the past 24 years he proudly called Peachtree City home. A devoted educator for more than 42 years, David inspired generations of middle and high school students through his passion for science, his curiosity about the world, and his deep care for each of his students.
David was a dedicated and selfless giver to his students, friends, neighbors, and community. Guided by a strong heart of faith, he lived each day with kindness, humility, and compassion. His caring heart showed in the way he treated others with grace, patience, and an unwavering belief in the good within every person. An avid reader, lifelong learner, and mentor, he was a seeker and sharer of wisdom who always took the time to listen and to teach. Known for his dry wit, David had a unique way of making his point, sometimes leaving others scratching their heads, but more often leaving them laughing out loud.
His greatest passion was coaching basketball. He loved the strategy of the game and could spend hours studying plays, discussing techniques, and connecting with coaches from across the country. His players knew they were loved and believed in, both on and off the court.
Throughout his lifetime, David inspired countless students, players, colleagues, and friends. His lessons reached far beyond the classroom and the gym. Even years after graduation, many continued to seek his guidance, share their milestones, and carry forward the lessons he had taught them. David never stopped being a teacher; his influence lived on in the lives he helped shape and the people he encouraged to believe in themselves.
“Coach Ed” was cherished by all who knew him. He saw value in every person he met and took time to speak with everyone, no matter where he was. He was a man who had great faith and put it into action.
One of the greatest tributes that defined Dave was his genuine love for his wife, Sandy. As a husband his love was pure, devoted, and real in every way. He was not just a husband, but a best friend, a steady hand, and a gentle soul who loved without limits.
David is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; their children, Blair (Tyler) Brewer, Taylor (Brandon) Maurer, Chad Pitts, and Preston Pitts; and his beloved grandchildren, Journey, River, and Remi Brewer, and Millie and Cash Maurer. He is also survived by his siblings Bobby and Danny Edinger, Steve Busch, Diana Schnieder, Bonnie Bush, and William Bush; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Poole, father Russell Edinger, and siblings Mary Ragazzo and Melinda Sparata.
Visitation will be held at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City from 4 p.m-6 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who loved Dave bring a written shared memory or inspiration, because that’s what he was to so many.
